Pietro L. Verga
Born and raised in Milano, Italy, I hold a MS in Urban Planning and Policy Design from Milan Polytechnic and a PhD in Urban Studies from the GSSI/Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.
Currently based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, I have been researching and working on innovative, place-based sustainable development initiatives and strategies for nearly two decades across Europe and the United States.
I specialise on a range of topics, including community-led and participatory approaches, nature-based solutions, circular economy principles, social innovation, cultural heritage, urban security, and sustainable mobility.
As a practitioner, I supported different Municipalities across the EU in the design, management, and/or coordination of European Projects and local urban development strategies, and I organised and facilitated a wide range of in-person and online peer to peer exchanges and capacity-building activities with international city representatives in the context of several EU projects or events.
I am a keen cyclist, ice-hockey player, all-round mountain lover, passionate photographer, and a punk rock soul.
